Dr. Van Hoof, an Appleton native and Xavier High school alumni, obtained his undergraduate degree and DDS from Marquette University in 2012 and 2016, respectively. In dental school, he was a Health Professions Scholarship recipient for the United States Air Force (USAF). He then completed a one-year advanced general dentistry residency (AEGD) at Offutt Air Force Base in Nebraska.

While serving as an officer in the USAF Dr. Van Hoof then completed a four-year Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency at The San Antonio Military OMS program. This program is affiliated with Brooke Army Medical Center, the largest & busiest military hospital in the department of defense. Here he surgically supported military personnel & their family members stationed throughout the world. This training was comprehensive and involved the following disciplines: dentoalveolar surgery (implants/bone graft), anesthesia, maxillofacial trauma and reconstruction, orthognathic (corrective jaw) surgery, pathology, temporomandibular joint surgery, and cosmetics.

From there he was assigned to Ramstein Air Force Base in Germany where he was one of two Air Force Oral Surgeons tasked with providing Maxillofacial surgical support to Europe, Africa and portions of Asia. While here he maintained a full scope practice out of Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, the largest military hospital outside of the United States, performing combat and non-combat related surgeries. After 10 years of service he made the decision to separate from the USAF as a Major and return to the Fox Valley to raise his family and provide care to those in his hometown.
